Mr Buhari urged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s government in a sallah message signed by Garba Shehu.
“We do not want to distract them from the onerous tasks facing them and the nation. Neither is it our wish to take the spotlight away from them in any way,” he said.
Tweeting further, Mr Shehu said the decision to remove subsidies in the past regime of Mr Buhari was not for the ex-President to take all by himself.
Prior to handing over power to a civilian government in 1999, Mr Abdulsalami Abubakar was active in successive military juntas characterised by gross human rights violation and killings.
Looting among Mr Buhari’s appointees and associates was widespread, and his wife Aisha coordinated several influence-peddling rackets throughout her eight years as the First Lady.
Mr Buhari, his wife Aisha and his children arrived at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport via a Nigerian Air Force aircraft at about 1:30 p.m.
Abiodun Oladunjoye, the director of information at the State House, confirmed this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
I’m the first to agree to an exit interview. And I decided to do it with someone nobody will claim is a friend of my government.
“The incoming president Bola Tinubu never gets tired of saying that the president allowed him to win. It is very significant. He allowed him to win in a free and fair process.”
“Buhari described their sacrifices as ‘very un-Nigerian.’”
