The company said vandalism posed a serious threat to its distribution infrastructure, especially electricity cables.
Mr Idemudia said that the DisCos’ technical and safety teams were currently assessing the situation and investigating to identify the cause of the fire.
The residents staged a peaceful protest on major streets and submitted a protest letter to the EKEDC District Manager in the area.
The EKEDC official said the warning was necessitated by the assault on one of its field officers.
