Gov. Babagana Zulum said this at the inauguration of the 2023 tree planting campaign, on Monday in Maiduguri.
The citizens of the three states, worst affected by insurgency in North East region, was further worsened by the subsidy removal.
“This morning, he sent us to come and deliver the gift,” Mr Tar said.
The nominee is yet to react to the development.
In Borno, Gov. Babagana Zulum approved the release of 50 buses to address the situation.
“Certainly, we give President Muhammadu Buhari some credit on security issues, especially in the North East.
Some of the affected structures consumed by the fire included essential commodities shops, boutiques, poultry and second hand materials shops, among others.
State police spokesman, ASP Kamilu Shatambaya, told journalists that the allegation was baseless and had no truth.
The president promised to restore peace in the region and reduce insecurity in other areas of the country by the end of his regime.
