Mr Soyinka backed the Isese Day celebration, saying it offered the people a rare opportunity to reconnect with their cultural roots.

“The day is set aside to celebrate Yoruba religion and traditions,” the special adviser said.
He urged them to be the shield against oppression and the assurance that right will always prevail over might.
The development came barely two days after Mr Abiodun denied that the exercise was politically motivated.
The rivalry between the duo has fractured the state’s ruling All Progressives Congress.
“I came to see my brother, Governor Makinde, to discuss issues of shared interest. Ogun was once part of the Old Western Region, where Ibadan served as the capital,” he said.
Governors Dapo Abiodun and Babajide Sanwo-Olu have urged media professionals to uphold democratic values and protect national integrity through responsible journalism.
Mr Olopade also commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for reviving sports in the state and making Abeokuta an international sports hub.
