He also directed security agencies to decisively deal with anyone breaching public peace.
Mr Bago blamed the hike in the prices of food items on traders storming local markets to mop up grains and convey them to neighbouring states.
Governor Mohammed Bago of Niger has approved a seven-day public holiday for workers to celebrate Christmas and New Year.
Last Saturday, Mr Bago banned Niger civil servants from wearing native wears like kaftan, babanriga and flowing gowns except Fridays.
“So as we examine opportunities to build green economic pathways, we need to keep in mind that most of the world’s natural resources are in Africa.”
