The death toll from a bomb explosion on a highway in Cauca, southwestern Colombia, on Saturday has risen to 20, with another 38 people wounded.
According to the report, the inquiries have been exploring Mr Petro’s possible meetings with drug traffickers.
The U.S. military has bombed a number of speedboats transporting drugs into America by sea on Mr Trump’s orders.
Mr Petro made this call in a ministerial meeting televised live on Tuesday, arguing that cocaine is illegal because it is made in Latin America.
He also called Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador “ignorant”.
