“The bill, as drafted, seeks to make other health professionals second-class to medical doctors,” one of the union leaders told journalists.

The commissioner noted that the assaults, threats, intimidation, insults, and harassment often occurred during emergencies, periods of grief, or heightened emotions.
The lawmaker cautioned against politicising the health sector, emphasising that medical professionals were the backbone of national development.
Mr Balogun said the fund has been authorised for release to address outstanding arrears, including the accoutrement allowance.
“This workshop falls squarely within the scope of sub-component three of the L-PRES Project Appraisal Document, which focuses on animal health services,” he said.
The commissioner said that at the onset of the administration, the number of health personnel had dropped to about 350 due to the “japa” syndrome and retirements.
They urged the government to consider the implications of the resumption of the suspended strike action on the health sector.
