The federal and state health ministries and partners have launched a $1.2 billion Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp) to transform Nigeria’s healthcare system.
“We urge the government to implement higher taxes on sugary drinks,” said Mr Bongos-Ikwue.
According to the health minister, collaboration and teamwork are essential in improving healthcare in the country.
The association believes that gaps in health coverage persist for low income earners, marginalised population and those in hard-to-reach areas.
Mr Onyekwelu listed the challenges faced by Nigeria’s healthcare sector as lack of funds, poor infrastructure, poor remuneration and insecurity.
