He warned that a return to partisan politics could diminish the statesmanlike reputation and global respect Mr Jonathan currently enjoys.

The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, is to consecrate 15 new bishops and inaugurate 14 newly created dioceses on November 9, in Abuja.
The new guideline is to ensure that the church remains a place of worship, unity, and spiritual guidance, free from the distractions and divisions of partisan politics.
Mr Ndukuba said that despite the progress made, poverty, hunger, insecurity, poor healthcare, and endemic corruption persisted.
“This is a move of God in our time. These young people have defied all odds to be here. In the midst of darkness, God’s light is shining through them,” said the church.
According to him, the resurrection of Jesus is a historical fact and the foundation of the Christian faith.
The Anglican primate called for consideration on the part of the government and asked the NLC to be reasonable with its demands.
The bishop told Mr Tinubu that there was “trouble in the land”, noting that time was already behind him.
