Senate President Godswill Akpabio has announced Opeyemi Bamidele (APC-Ekiti) as the majority leader of the 10th Senate.
The current Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, defeated his closest rival Oladimeji Ajijola of PDP with 171 votes.
The senator said that a buoyant economy would lead to employment and reduction in crime.
The senators are investigating corruption allegations brought against the former CJN by 14 justices of the apex court.
The lawmaker further explained that the bill would strengthen the criminal confiscation procedure.
Mr Yusuf was first appointed acting Chief Judge of the FCT High Court in August.
President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, said “this is not a new law. This is a borrowing plan that we approved before for the budget 2021.’’
