The directive came after the Emir of ‘Yandoto, Aliyu Garba-Marafa, conferred the traditional title of Sarkin Fulani on a wanted bandit, Ado Aleiru.
Mr Matawalle said he has ordered the state commissioner of police to issue licence to all those who qualify and are wishing to obtain guns to defend themselves.
The government said community leaders must ensure that eligible voters within their wards and local government areas register and obtain their PVCs.
Gunmen had attacked Juyi and Doruwa communities of Bungudu LGA and Ganar Kiyawa in the Bukkuyum council area.

But in November, it reopened seven markets in Kaura Namoda, Kasuwar Daji, Gusau, Danjibga, Tsafe, Talata Mafara, and Gummi.
Governor Bello Matawalle’s government has banned all Zamfara officials from speaking to journalists except two persons.
“Many of the bandits were neutralised due to the sustained fervent prayers of the ulamas and the communities,” the commissioner said.
The markets were shut down as part of the measures to address the security challenges in the state.
Armed bandits had killed five and abducted 15 persons in the same local government five days ago.
