Police bomb squad in Borno has removed two improvised explosive devices planted by the insurgents along the Ngwaom–Mafa Road.
“I want to announce a financial assistance of N5 million to each of the bereaved families to cater for their immediate needs,” said Mr Zulum.
“Four police operatives paid the supreme price while a section of the station, one police patrol vehicle and three exhibit vehicles parked in the premises were set ablaze.”
Mr Anyawu said the rest of the items recovered from the suspect were military and police boots, as well as military camouflage uniforms among others.
“We recovered six guns: three AK-47 rifles, three pump-action guns, three IEDs, four petrol bombs, among other ammunition,” stated the police officer.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Wednesday condemned the killing of two more UN peacekeepers in northern Mali.
The police command said its Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was deployed to defuse the explosives.
