Police recover locally made IEDs from suspected IPOB members

The Police in Anambra says it has recovered locally fabricated Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) from suspected members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
“The Command recovered a locally fabricated RPG Bomb and a hand grenade at the scene of the shootout between gunmen suspected to be ESN militants and the Joint Security Convoy led by the Commissioner himself,” the police said on Monday.
The command said the explosives, including RPG Bomb and a hand grenade, were recovered at Afor Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area of the state, during an exchange between security forces and unknown gunmen.
Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Aderemi Adeoye, said the items which included telephone were contained in a bag abandoned at the scene of the attack.
When discovered, Mr Adeoye said the police Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was immediately deployed to the scene and the explosives were carefully defused.
He said the items, including the telephone handset, was being analysed for useful intelligence on the gang, adding that investigation was ongoing to unravelling the identities and mission of the gunmen.
