The command said the assailants inflicted injuries on the victims and forcefully dispossessed them of their motorcycle before fleeing the scene.
Ms Olukoju said three of the victims had been successfully rescued following immediate response by the security operatives.
Mr Zubair noted that the arrested suspect attempted to move freely within communities pretending to be a beggar.
The suspected bandits, who were intercepted by troops during an operation in the area on Friday, have been taken into custody.
The suspect was engaged as a security guard by a private secondary school in Ile-Ife, where he stole the mobile phones.
