Mr Hassan said that about 17 suspected bandits were arrested during a major clearance operation across four local government areas of the state.
He said that the suspects conspired and fraudulently obtained the money via a Facebook platform
The IGP called on all stakeholders to remain calm and allow the due process of law to prevail.

The IGP urged the new police commissioners to “ensure diligence in the discharge of their lawful duties.”
The alleged hackers are between 34 and 38 years.
The statement advised those who want to stage “a peaceful protest to inform the police” and request protection.
