The police commissioner in Anambra, Ikioye Orutugu, has ordered the arrest of individuals impersonating security personnel to extort the public or compromise security.
Mr Ikenga said the CP reaffirmed the command’s commitment to supporting the IGP’s reform efforts.
“Our community should not be subjected to such brutality, as the command will not allow criminals to instil fear or destabilise the peace,” Mr Orutugu said.
“You have to help us report any suspicious persons or activities capable of breaching the public peace,” Mr Orutugu urged the residents.
The police are fully prepared and fortified to protect lives and property before, during, and after the November 8 governorship election in Anambra.

The police spokesman in the state, Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
The police-led Joint Security Force in Anambra on Monday foiled an armed attack on the Ezinifite community, Nnewi South LGA.
The police promised to apprehend other members of the group.
“Gone are the days when our permanent secretaries came to work in tricycles. From today, you are all driving away brand-new Geely Emgrand cars,” the governor said.
