The police prosecutor told the court that possession of Indian hemp contravenes Section 5(b) of the Indian Hemp Act, 1966.
The police, NDLEA, NAFDAC, Neighbourhood Watch and the task force on environmental offences supervised the exercise.
“I have a poultry farm and was told that if I feed the chickens with Indian hemp seeds, they would grow fast and strong, and would not fall sick.”
NDLEA operatives seized the cocaine and arrested two suspects at Mando Motor Park in the state capital on Thursday.
The illicit drug was recovered from an isolated building, the police said.
Over 4,000kg of illicit drugs were seized in the raid.
The suspect was arrested in possession of 91 tablets of Exol drugs, nine cards of Diazepam tablet and eight wraps of dried leaf suspected to be Indian hemp.
“More than 50 narcotic officers stormed the beach on Saturday and recovered the consignments along with two trucks and arrested three suspects.”
The police command in Jigawa says it has arrested 10 suspected criminals in Taura and Kiyawa local government areas.
The police told the court both men breached public peace and possessed Indian hemp.
