In August 2021, IPOB introduced a sit-at-home order every Monday across the Southeast to pressure the government to release its detained leader, Kanu.
He assured that Igbo stakeholders are not relenting in the efforts to ensure that Mr Kanu is released.
He dismissed allegations that Mr Kanu jumped bail on April 25, 2017, after the court granted him bail.
Mr Kanu also confirmed his new doctors Uche Ukwuije and David Ukoha, would be available for a visit on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.
The protests were destabilised as state sponsored thugs unleashed mayhem on protesters under supervision of the Nigerian police.
The governor also set up a task force to monitor compliance with his new directive from Monday, June 5.
The matter, billed to be heard today, was adjourned till June 20 by the court registrar following the absence of Justice Binta Nyako in court.
“The order is unconstitutional, unlawful and cannot stand.
“Where were they when Kanu was leading IPOB militants to kill innocent people in the South-East?”
Mr Iwuanyanwu said the security situation in the South-East was very disturbing, adding that there was a very urgent need for a Peace Summit in Igboland.
