The chief magistrate, Peter Nwaka, ordered that the defendant, 67, should be kept at the Ikoyi custodial facility for 30 days.
Mr Ekpa, 37, shot into prominence following the abduction of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu by Nigerian agents in June 2021 — becoming the de facto leader of the secessionist movement.
“The IPOB issue in the South-East, as far as I am concerned, is about the realisation of Biafra. Is it possible for Biafra to be realised today?”
Mr Obi said “no I cannot condemn. Because I’m not sure who is doing what.”
The governors disclosed this in a communique issued at the end of the forum’s meeting held at the Government House, Enugu on Sunday.
“We are brainstorming together to fashion out ways to deal with existing and emerging security threats headlong within the South-East,” said the inspector general of police.
“Many eminent and well-meaning Nigerians believe that Kanu’s continued detention is largely responsible for the current tension and security breaches in the South-East.”

The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court has rejected the bail application of Nnamdi Kanu.
