Mr Shettima says the PDP’s “presidential dream” was a “televised national circus”.
The Rivers governor had in September accused Mr Ayu of taking the bribe on the pretext that PDP governors were unwilling to fund the party.
Mr Ayu stated this in Bauchi on Thursday, saying Nigerians have suffered enough misfortune most especially ‘hunger and insecurity’ under Buhari.
“God forbid, if they ever have access to public purse again, they will leave no kobo there,” said Lai Mohammed
Mr Onanuga’s attack on the PDP comes on the heels of the controversial sums paid into the bank accounts of some members of the party’s National Working Committee.
Mr Ortom, who shares the same caucus with Governor Nyesom Wike, backtracked on the collective position of the group demanding the removal of Mr Ayu.
Mr Ortom had said unless Mr Wike was appeased, PDP would risk losing the state votes during the 2023 presidential election.
The former senate president says “there are times when working silently behind the scenes is more productive.”
He accused Mr Ayu of masterminding his loss at the PDP primary by reaching out to other contestants to step down for Mr Atiku.
“The published presidential campaign council list translates to putting the cart before the horse. The pertinent issue remains the resolution of the leadership.”
