The market closed negative with 24 laggards relative to 14 gainers.
Market capitalisation shed N136.88 billion to close at N27.06 trillion from N27.20 trillion recorded on Tuesday.
The decline of 1.97 per cent was as a result of losses in large stocks such as Dangote Cement, WAPCO, GTCO and Oando.
“The stock market closed positively, as bargain hunting was seen in all the major sectors,” according to analysts at GTI Research.
Guiness Plc topped the losers’ chart, dropping by 10 per cent to close at N88.20 per share.
The negative performance was driven by price depreciation in large and medium capitalised stocks.
