Ms Adeh said that the exercise was part of proactive security measures for the ongoing examinations.
The police officers will man all Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s computer-based test centres across Osun to ensure adequate security for candidates.
The 2026 UTME commenced nationwide on Thursday, with more than 2.2 million candidates expected to sit for the examination across accredited centres.
“This proactive measure is in strict compliance with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu,” said Mr Jimoh.
JAMB has suspended the selection of examination towns for candidates in Ekiti registering for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
The candidates are to proceed to their respective institutions to complete the admission process and print their individual JAMB admission letters.
The registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Ishaq Oloyede, has called for a repositioning of Nigeria’s education sector to reduce dependence on foreign assistance.
The stakeholders expressed their views in a survey on the use of the post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination as a requisite for university admissions.
”This policy decision reflects a balance between cognitive maturity and academic preparedness. Sixteen years is non-negotiable,” the education minister said.
Mr Owoseni said that the actions of the affected registrants warrant prosecution and possible jail term.
