The residents said the candidates should imitate former president Goodluck Jonathan by accepting defeat and congratulating the winner.
Governor Aminu Masari’s government has declared Thursday and Friday as a holiday for Katsina workers to receive President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Security officials and we the government are who the people rely on to protect them, and we have failed in doing so.”
Deputy Governor Mannir Yakubu of Katsina has resigned his position as the commissioner for agriculture and natural resources.
“Law enforcement agents have been mandated to deal ruthlessly with any political thug disturbing the state’s peace.”
“Any person or group that contravenes the provisions will be charged for an offence punishable under section 114 of the penal code law.”
The governor said, “Go to the border towns and see. People are coming in and going out with goods at will.”
“When you put the two together, we will restore normalcy. It is not beyond us to do that,” Masari asserted.
Governor Aminu Masari says Katsina is spending over N15 billion to build drainage and has flagged off the construction of Kofar Kaura and Kofar Kwaya interchanges.
The state assembly said the declaration would give security agencies the muscle to deal decisively with bandits.
