The commissioner for the environment and water resources, Tokunbo Wahab, clarified in a statement on Tuesday.
The environment commissioner stated that the exercise targeted street begging activities in different parts of Lagos.
The suspects were nabbed while dispossessing pedestrians of their phones in the Mile 2 area of Lagos State.
He said zero-tolerance againt noise pollution is imperative to prioritise the health and well-being of Lagosians.
Mr Wahab stated that KAI officers would perform their duties unhindered.
The environment and water resources commissioner said that the culprits would be prosecuted. Â
The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps said the arrest would continue if the people did not obey simple rules that would save lives.
Mr Wahab said some were arrested in various parts of the state for crossing the highway instead of using the pedestrian bridges.
The arrested pedestrians did not use the pedestrian bridge at Oshodi Oke
The commissioner added that those arrested have been taken to court for prosecution.
