He said LASTMA operatives responded, extracting the deceased, who was pinned beneath the bus and rendered immediate assistance to the injured.
Mr Osiyemi stated that the decision was made to prevent further accidents along the corridor.
The general manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, reaffirmed the agency’s readiness to forge a formidable partnership with the NDLEA.
It added, “Fire rescue teams are currently at the scene, working to extinguish the fire and mitigate the situation.”
Mr Bakare-Oki said LASTMA operatives promptly cordoned off the accident scene, neutralising potential escalation, particularly the perilous prospect of fuel scooping.
Mr Bakare-Oki stressed the importance of adhering to speed limits to prevent such tragic incidents.
Mr Bakare-Oki underscored the need for both commercial and private motorists to comply with officially sanctioned speed limits to avert needless road fatalities.
The offences include illegal parking, traffic obstruction, and dropping or picking of passengers at undesignated bus stops.
She urged drivers to always be on the right side of the law.
Mr Bakare-Oki sympathised with the bereaved family, expressing regret over the tragic incident.
