Cooking gas currently sells at N2,000 per kg in roadside retail outlets.
Despite the decrease in consumption, the oil and gas regulator said marketers’ fuel imports increased.

Mr Lokpobiri said the production target for the 2025 budget was based on 2.06 million barrels per day.
“If gas is cheap, many people in the villages will start to use it,” he said.
The minister said the decision was to increase the availability of cooking gas in the domestic market.
He thanked the federal government for giving the company the opportunity to carry out the work.
On a year-on-year basis, the average retail price for refilling a 12.5kg cooking gas increased by 89.10 per cent from N4,317.55 in April 2021.
Jigawa, Ekiti and Kaduna States have the highest average price per gallon of kerosene.
The fuel stations were shut down for lack of operating licence.
