Amobi Ogah of Labour Party contested and won the House of Representatives seat for Isikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency of Abia.
The INEC boss said that such massive deployment required a secured environment, which he said was beyond the commission’s immediate responsibility.
Mr Yakubu said the commission was working with the security agencies to provide a secure environment for peaceful and credible elections.
According to him, for the Edo governorship election, the party primaries will be held from February 1 to February 24, 2024.

Mr Yakubu explained that the four by-elections would be conducted to fill the vacant seats by two senators and two members of the House of Representatives.
Mr Yakubu said many positive things came out of the 2023 elections despite several challenges.
“Campaigns in public by parties and candidates in the three states commenced on July 14, as provided in the timetable and schedule of activities for the governorship elections.”
