Mr Nwachukwu said troops on Sunday responded to actionable intelligence at about 10:30 pm.
He added that the troops also rescued a civilian and destroyed two motorcycles.
The army troops apprehended one of the kidnappers currently undergoing preliminary investigation.
“The gallant troops are presently exploiting their success in pursuit of the routed insurgents,” said the Nigerian Army.
Mr Nwahukwu said the project scope included clearing of right of way, tower alignment cum excavation and blinding/stub setting.
