”Two terrorists were neutralised during the encounter,” an army report stated.
Mr Abdullahi added that in Zamfara, the troops acted on information regarding terrorist activities in the Bagabuzu area of Faru District, Maradun LGA.
Mr Yari described the incident as unfortunate and urged the victims’ families to consider it as an act of God.
The commissioner called on the public to abide by the order and cooperate with the state government to rid Zamfara of bandits.
Bandits had on Saturday attacked some communities in the same Maradun LGA killing some of its residents.
SP Muhammed Shehu, the police spokesman, confirmed the abduction in a statement released in Gusau on Wednesday.
“One of the bandits was gunned down, while other bandits fled into the forest with possible gunshot wounds,” the statement said.
