President Muhammadu Buhari had mandated the Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, to fashion out ways of preventing flood disaster in Nigeria within 90 days.
The lawmakers lauded the FG for financing about 70 per cent of capital projects despite the economic challenges.
“From our own end, detection of such projects is done by verifying their locations and names,” said ICPC chair Bolaji Owasannoye.
The minister said that the figures came up from data aggregated from over 5,000 debtors across 10 MDAs.
The upper chamber instructed that agencies that can generate more funds should contribute to government coffers.
Contractors who import and supply such equipment or vehicles without paying duties would be considered liable as fraudulent importers.
The federal government says it has suspended the salaries of 331 civil servants for failing to update their Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).
The sack came after a committee carried out an investigation on the verification and audit of staff strength.
FCT-IRS would be 80 percent automated by the end of 2021 for transparency and accountability.
