He said that the arrest came after he had evaded arrest twice and fled to Ghana to hide since June.
The NDLEA spokesperson said that Abuba, who is from the Zaire province in Angola, was arrested on Tuesday, February 25.
Mr Babafemi also stated that another two suspects were arrested at Igbo Olumo, Ikorodu area of Lagos when NDLEA operatives raided their hideout in the community.
The NDLEA said the suspect said he desperately needed money from the criminal drug trade to boost his declining phone and accessories business.
The NDLEA described the late Wigwe as an outstanding Nigerian.
“Chidike was to be paid N3.5 million, which he intended to use to import goods from Hong Kong,’’ Mr Babafemi stated.
He said that the operatives intercepted 1kg methamphetamine concealed in containers of body cream going to New Zealand on Sunday, Oct. 15.
Mr Babafemi added that a total of 100 blocks of cannabis weighing 55kgs and 600 bottles of codeine-based syrup were seized in Abuja.
The operatives also destroyed three hectares of Indian hemp in the forest.
Mr Babafemi said NDLEA operatives also foiled attempts to export drugs to the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.
