He said the decision for the warning strike was arrived at following the meeting of various organs of organised labour in the state on Tuesday.
Governor Hyacinth Alia has approved a minimum wage of ₦75,000 for Benue workers.
He said, “The supplementary budget is necessary because of the time we are in and trends of what is happening in the state and country in general.’’
The committee is made up of eight members, each from the federal government and trade union sides.
Governor Umaru Bago says his administration will not hesitate to implement the N70,000 minimum wage as far as resources are available.
The NLC chairman also lauded the governor’s intentions to implement the new minimum wage.
He said such would not only improve their welfare but would also boost their productivity.
He said the entirety of the National Assembly moved quickly and passed the bill in one day out of excitement.
The NLC and the TUC proposed N494,000 as the new national minimum wage.
He noted that with the current economic situation, it would be difficult for some manufacturers, especially the smaller ones, to pay the new minimum wage.
