The organised labour had proposed N250,000 minimum wage, while the government team and the organised private sector proposed N62,000.
Mr Tinubu, on Thursday, approved N70,000 new minimum wage during a meeting with the leadership of the organised labour in Abuja.
President Bola Tinubu’s government, NLC and TUC have agreed on N70,000 as the new minimum wage.
He stated that the pursuit by some governors to pay “whatever they like deepens poverty and causes varying dimensions of insecurity.”
The NECA boss stressed that setting a national minimum wage that reduces people’s ability to pay will set the stage for litigation and crisis.
“We have never considered accepting ₦62,000 or any other wage that we know is below what we know is able to take Nigerian workers home,” said an NLC official.
“The NGF cautions parties in this important discussion to look beyond just signing a document for the sake of it.”
He said that there was nowhere in the world where labour ever interrupted the national grid.
He said that the government had taken several measures to address current hardships.
“We are not saying the federal government should pay N494,000 as minimum wage, but they should seriously look at their request,” said the party.
