“Our current ranking by FAO is 15th in the world in cattle, fifth in sheep and third in goat, and 17th in camel farming.”
Mohammed Abdullahi, Minister of Environment, said that the project would last for five to six years.
The minister said the policy would ensure food and nutrition security as well as promote export of agricultural produce, create jobs and boost wealth creation for the country.
Mr Buhari, who admitted that Nigeria is currently facing challenge of funding, however said that its endowments were far greater than constraints.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Muhammad Nanono, says the ‘2021 Feed Nigeria Summit’ will strengthen Nigeria’s agribusiness ecosystem.
”We hope to train 75, 000 extension workers over a period of three years,” the minister said.
He said that 300 metric tons fertilizer would be sold at N5,000 per bag to dry season farmers.
