A government that dislikes accountability and transparency has no interest in curbing corruption among its ranks and files.
Mr Alake said the most disturbing aspect was that most foreigners engaged in illegal mining in the country had no proper immigration.
Mr Idris said it was untrue that the licence revocation was to frustrate people out of jobs.
According to him, the surveillance committee will help check the insecurity and activities of illegal mining in communities.
Describing the position as a sensitive one due to the economic hardship, Mr Alake expressed readiness to hit the ground running.
