While Mmesoma’s mistake can never excuse criminal behaviour, it does serve as a wake-up call for educational reforms.
“My daughter didn’t open up to me on time, Mr Ejikeme told Nigerian Television Authority in an interview on Saturday.
Mr Keyamo, while describing the student as “a brilliant girl, judging by her actual score of 249,” also cautioned critics against damaging her with their opinions.
The panel recommended that Ms Ejikeme undergo psychological counselling and therapy following the controversy she stirred up.
Never make judgements solely on the basis of surface impressions.
How did we get here? As in many things dumb and useless, politicians have managed to lead the way to the collapse of values.
JAMB banned Ms Ejikeme for three years from sitting UTME and withdrew her result.
I am just explaining to the world that my daughter’s result has been manipulated. I am not happy about it; they gave her result to another person.”
On Sunday, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said Miss Ejikeme inflated her actual result from 249 to 362.
The exam body also accused another UTME candidate, Atung Gerald, in Kaduna, of claiming to have scored 380.
