Niger government has reaffirmed its commitment to the elimination of neglected tropical diseases as the state records 11 cases of Buruli ulcer.
The bye-election scheduled for August 16 followed the death of Joseph Haruna, member representing Munya Constituency, on September 13, 2024.
“Frequent mass abductions and killings are clear evidence of failure of authorities to protect the people,” Amnesty International stressed.
“For now, we cannot give the exact number of people they took away. They also rustled many cattle, goats, and sheep belonging to us.”
