The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says it has arrested Obinna Igbo, for importing fake malaria drug, Amanta Forte.
The regulatory agency says only it can make a pronouncement on safety and efficacy of all regulated products with satisfactory scientific evidence (clinical trial).
The police, NDLEA, NAFDAC, Neighbourhood Watch and the task force on environmental offences supervised the exercise.
Trans-fatty acids, also called trans-unsaturated fatty acids, are a type of unsaturated fat that naturally occurs in small amounts in meat and milk fat.
Mr Garba said that items valued at N1 million were seized during raids in markets and other places.
The lawmakers are concerned that no herbal remedy has been validated for the prevention or treatment of COVID-19.
“Despite widespread use, traditional medicines have not yet been integrated into the national healthcare system of many developing countries, including Nigeria.”
“Many men have died using performance-enhancing drugs,” the NAFDAC boss said.
“Going forward, we are working with international partners to ensure the expiration date of any vaccine we will be receiving are up to five or six months.”
Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat said there was a need to destroy the drugs as it was being abused by youths of the state.
