If the Supreme Court bucks the trend and rules in favour of Yusuf, Kwankwaso would have used one judicial stone to vanquish Shekarau and Ganduje.
On Thursday, the Supreme Court reserved judgment in the appeal filed by NNPP seeking to affirm its candidate, Abba Yusuf, as governor of Kano.
The lawyers called on the Supreme Court to resist external interference to protect the judiciary’s image and uphold the rule of law.
“It’s a rude shock to me to hear verdict of the appeal court in Abuja against Kano State governor.’’
Boniface Aniebonam said the tribunal judgement was “a judgment of the mortal being rather than justice of the living God.”
He stressed that “the glaringly lopsided judgment cannot stand the test of natural justice and fair play’’.
Governor Abba Yusuf described the tribunal’s ruling as “unfair” and “a miscarriage of justice.”
Ahmad Dokko Ibrahim, the returning officer, announced that Yusuf won the election with 1,019,602 votes, while Gawuna got 890,705 votes.
The party is challenging the declaration of Abba Kabir-Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party(NNPP) as the election winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“Today, it (INEC) has issued the pronounced winner with (a) certificate of return. I have taken it in good faith,” said Mr Gawuna.
