“We are crying, our children are dying pay us our salaries.”
The decision was part of the resolutions of the two unions’ Joint Action Committee (JAC) after a meeting held in Akure last week.
SSANU and NASU said the strike was to protest the federal government’s failure to pay their members four months of withheld salaries.
“The members of the two unions may be forced to meet soon to take all lawful and stringent decisions on the matter.”
Mr Makolo said that the call was imperative to ensure industrial harmony in the sector.
The unions agreed to suspend the strike for two months which will take effect from August 24.
