Mr Maiyaki said institutions that do not meet minimum academic standards and the resource assessment benchmarks would be denied accreditation.
Mr Maiyaki explained that a committee was set up to stamp out illegal institutions nationwide.
“Surely, anything the university has not approved is illegal, null and void,” he said.
“This is the first private university in Kebbi state, and it’s among the very few in the North-West geo-political zone,” said the vice-chancellor.
The Transportation University, Daura, has received official approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to start academic activities.
The university vice-chancellor said the letter further stated that, “the approval does not cover the part-time mode of delivery of the programmes.”
He said this was in recognition of the funding needed for effective and efficient educational programmes at these universities.
“We are going on campus tour to talk to vice-chancellors, rectors and provosts to reduce school fees,” he added.
The Chartered Institute of Treasury Management wants NUC to mandate universities to let professionals be part of their curriculum development.
Mr Abubakar said the approved programmes would commence in the 2023/2024 academic session.
