Ten corps members in Plateau will have their service year extended to various periods for absenteeism and abscondment, the NYSC has said.
“By available statistics, we need a minimum of 200,000 personnel to boost the fighting power of our men,” stated the Ekiti governor.
Minority Leader says the advisory in the NYSC pamphlet shows President Muhammadu Buhari’s inability to provide security on Nigeria’s highways.
The NYSC coordinator advised corps members to terminate long-distance journeys anytime it is 6:00 p.m. and lodge at any security outpost.
The coordinator says if nothing is done urgently, it will take over the hostels.
The official said only a few Nigerians want the scheme scrapped and that the majority of the youths love it.
“Hence, I have directed all my council members and district heads to provide adequate security to the corps members,” stated Mr Abubakar.
Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State has pledged to provide adequate COVID-19 vaccines for all the corps members in the state.
The National Youth Service Corps is set to partner the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria on talent hunt and movie productions in Nollywood.
Chikwado Ezuruike, alongside four others died in an auto crash while on their way to NYSC orientation camp in Katsina on July 28.
