NCDC has reported a decline in confirmed Lassa fever cases for Epidemiological Week Five, January 27 to February 2, 2025.
It noted that the seven states accounted for 96.5 per cent of all suspected cases.
The governor observed that the establishment of the NCDC would address its various pressing challenges.
President Bola Tinubu had earlier on Tuesday signed the bill into law, officially establishing the NCDC.
He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening surveillance and response efforts across the country.
NCDC said that despite the decline in weekly cases, the cumulative number of confirmed cases for 2025 has risen to 214.
He reiterated the commitment of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to winning the fight against Lassa fever and other diseases in the state.
The NCDC boss recommended frequent handwashing with soap and water, and proper waste disposal to deter rodents.
Mr Idris particularly warned against poor food hygiene during festive gatherings.
