According to the NCDC DG, as of July 15, Nigeria has recorded 3,623 suspected cholera cases and 103 deaths, with a case fatality rate of 2.8 per cent.
The NCDC said that the distribution of cases shows a slight male predominance.
The commissioner alleged that the NCDC relied on old data to include the state among the affected states.
Mr Mohammed said, “We don’t have any confirmed cases of cholera in Bauchi State, but we have 50 suspected cases and one suspected death.”
Mr Suleiman said the government was also building 102 Primary Healthcare Centres in the state.
The health ministry said it would continue to provide updates in collaboration with NCDC as the situation evolves.
NCDC director-general Jide Idris disclosed this in an interview with journalists on Tuesday in Abuja.
“The illness is found in Maradun, Shinkafi and Gusau local government areas in the state.”
NCDC said that despite efforts to combat the Lassa fever outbreak, challenges have persisted.
He said the comprehensive approach, endorsed at both federal and state levels, aimed to foster a unified response to safeguard Nigeria’s population against health threats.
