Not satisfied with the judgement, the governor and the NNPP appealed the tribunal’s judgement, praying for its dismissal.
He added that Mr Aniebonam provided the platform for the various contests in which the party engaged in the 2023 general elections.
Ahmad Dokko Ibrahim, the returning officer, announced that Yusuf won the election with 1,019,602 votes, while Gawuna got 890,705 votes.
The Returning Officer, Elijah Ella, who declared the result in Kaura on Sunday, said Mr Mathew polled 10,508 votes to defeat his closest opponent, the incumbent, Gideon Gwani of PDP, who garnered 10,297
The NNPP said its candidate, unlike the PDP’s, was without blemish and had the capacity to address Nigeria’s many challenges.
“Entitlement politics will breed an imperial presidency that is distant from the people.”
Mr Yahaya said this when he received defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kwami Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
“The only engagement Tinubu had attended with Nigerians was the meetings by the Arewa Consultative Forum and the Christian Association of Nigeria.”
Mr Kwankwaso received the endorsement at a a meeting with the leaders of the hitherto unknown group on Sunday.
Mr Tinubu, 70, however, dismissed criticisms about his frail health, saying being a Nigerian president requires mental dexterity rather than physical strength.
