NFF president Amaju Pinnick and football stakeholders have hailed the Super Eagles over its performance in an international friendly game against Mexico on Sunday.
Nigeria will take on Sierra Leone in Abuja June 9, before facing Mauritius on Monday June 13.
The National Stadium, Abuja was vandalised on March 29, after the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
The department is headed by the immediate-past Super Eagles technical adviser, Augustine Eguavoen, NFF’s technical director.
“It was beyond us, but we have already apologised to our players and officials over this incident.”
The Super Eagles qualified for the round of 16 after topping group D with maximum points and will now face Tunisia on Sunday.
“Sorry I cannot be there. But I’m supporting the boys all the way. I call on Nigerians to support the team.”
With Osimhen, Dennis and Ighalo missing in the Super Eagles squad, Nigeria’s attacking fortitude will now rest on inconsistent forwards like Kelechi Iheanacho and Henry Onyekuru.
The NFF dropped Osimhen after he tested positive for COVID-19, replacing him with Henry Onyekuru. Also excused were Watford forward Emmanuel Dennis and Cyprus-based Abdullahi Shehu.
The minister said Rohr’s future with the Super Eagles will depend on a report to be submitted by the NFF in the coming days.
