Former aviation minister Hadi Sirika says he spent only some of the N3 billion then-President Muhammadu Buhari released to him to float a national carrier, Nigeria Air.
The acting MD of the airline, Dapo Olumide, said Nigeria Air had yet to secure an operating licence for full flight operations; that the processes were still at the early stages.
The administration has laboured for years to revive the moribund national career.
The vice president will participate in the event alongside other leaders in the continent and beyond.
The airline said it was working to fulfil all necessary processes to receive an AOC certificate from NCAA to start flying.
Not just the planes, the wet-lease arrangement being adopted also covers flight crew and sometimes fuel.
The so-called national carrier, which flopped barely two months after its unveiling in July 2018, was controversially apportioned N8.5 billion in the 2019 Appropriation Bill.
