The agency says Nigeria has now identified a further 39 cases of the omicron variant, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 45.

The nation’s active cases stood at 9,508 as of Monday.
The NCDC did not say why Kogi has remained untouched virtually by the virus since February 2020.
The Rivers state capital, Port Harcourt, registered 188 infections out of the 828 declared on Saturday by the NCDC.

A pregnant woman in Nasarawa was the first casualty of the epidemic. Medical doctors who managed her case have also been infected.
Lagos state topped the chart with 796, followed by Delta with 152 and the FCT with 130.
