Aviation minister Festus Keyamo says the federal government will launch an e-visa system and digital landing and exit cards to enhance national security.
The NCAA said, “Passengers should not be put in a position where they are denied entry or returned to Nigeria only on arrival at intermediate/transit stops.’’
The suspension is to enable internal appraisal of the airline’s operations.
He emphasised the importance of the FDC in enhancing safety.Â
The federal government has signed the updated Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority procedure to boost operational capacity.
“This is our own way of showing patriotism, and this gives us a sense of unity,” he said.
The statement noted that the NCAA appreciated the public’s understanding and patience as Arik Air handled the situation with minimal disruption.
The flight crew was unfamiliar with the approved company procedures and manuals, said the UK’s aviation body.
Eighty-three passengers were aboard the aircraft that skidded off the runway.
The management of the airline reassured its passengers that their safety would always be its top priority.
