“In total, 12 containers have been seized with duty paid value worth N1.8bilion,” he said.
Mr Afunanya said that the security agencies have made concerted and frantic efforts to restore calm to the affected areas.
He noted that the command generated the amount in spite of a sharp reduction in trade volume.
The container was from Turkey.
Mr Garba-Bature sought the cooperation, understanding and collaboration of relevant stakeholders against smuggling.
He said that about 20 cross-cutting recommendations were made during the study.
“The superior security network of the Command eventually aided the seizure but we lost the suspects.”
The Nigerian Customs Service has committed to ending the smuggling of petroleum products in 2024.
The Nigeria Customs Service says it generated N52.7 billion in Kano and Jigawa.
